Global Innovation EcoSystem, as a framework for technology transfer
The concept of the Innovation Ecosystem can be expanded globally, and the expanded concept is called the gGlobal Innovation Ecosystemh, GIES, which we have discussed since 2006. The GIES concept considers that Innovation Ecosystem exists not only at national level, but also regional and global levels. The ecosystem at each level develops dynamic interaction between various factors toward innovation. It is noteworthy that socioeconomic value, combination of economic and social values is necessary for resolution of global problems. In order to achieve sustainable development, both public and private sectors collaborate and cooperate with each other to convert economic and social values into socioeconomic values.
The GIES can realize a society where all countries share the vision and work together toward common goals. Climate change is urgent challenge, and environmental technology is an important part of the solution. The GIES concept suggests some ways toward mitigation by science-based innovation as follows:
Investment for science and technology;
Design of effective system for technology transfer from developed countries;
Its adaptation to emerging countries; and
Necessary schemes of international joint research.
